Appendix A

No written records exist for the following information. However, the writer was informed by P.M.'s F.M. Torrence, E. B. Cassel and W.G. Murtorff that the facts stated are true. Brother W. Harrison Walker, D.D.G.M., was arguably very much opposed to the constituting of a Masonic Lodge in State College, PA. The reason stated was very simple. The formation of a Masonic Lodge in State College, PA would adversely affect Old Fort Lodge #537, Centre Hall, PA and Bellefonte Lodge #268, Bellefonte, PA. When no cooperation was deemed possible, Brother J. Harris Mussina, D.D.G.M., Lock Haven, PA was approached for assistance. An agreement was resolved specifying that Brother Mussina would help sponsor the Masonic Lodge if Brother Walker would not. This course of events was not followed, since Brother Walker reluctantly agreed to sponsor the Masonic Lodge in State College, PA.
