2017 St. John's Day Banquet

Brethren, mark your calendars and get your appetites ready. State College Lodge 700 will be hosting our annual St. John's Day banquet on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Lemont. Spouses, significant others, and Brethren from outside Lodge #700 are all invited to attend. The banquet starts at 6, with dinner served at 6:15. Following dinner, a presentation showcasing the Center for Performing Arts (CPA) at Penn State. Join Jesse Scott and Mary Ellen Litzinger, members of the CPA’s Community Advisory Council, as they explain how Center for Performing Arts enriches the artistic environment of the Centre region. They will highlight performances on the Center’s spring schedule, discuss special outreach activities like Artistic Viewpoints and the Classical Coffeehouses, and explain special opportunities for group ticket purchases.

Jesse Scott is a Ph. D candidate in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Penn State. Originally a western PA native, he relocated to State College in 2006. In addition to serving on the CPA Community Advisory Council, Jesse is Chief Justice of the Graduate Student Government and is an active member of the American Red Cross (having personally donated over 5 gallons of blood!). In his free time, he cycles and gardens.

Mary Ellen Litzinger retired in 2011 from a 30-year career at Penn State University, where she was a librarian, a strategic planning consultant, and an instructor in the Colleges of Health and Human Development and Engineering. For several years, Mary Ellen was also a private yoga teacher working with limited mobility clients. Currently the Vice-Chair of CPA’s Community Advisory Council, she is also a member of the Nittany Valley Symphony Board and is a docent at the Palmer Museum at Penn State. In her free time, she is a knitting instructor at Stitch Your Art Out in Pine Grove Mills, Pa.

Following the presentation, we will introduce Lodge 700's 2017 Officers as well as any other Officers attending from other Lodges in our District.
